After being nominated by their daughter for a trip away in the Ebbett VW Grand Kiwifornia, Garry and Kay used this opportunity to tick off a bucket-list goal by driving from Hamilton to Taumaranui to join a tour on the old railway line from Whangamonona to Okahukura - “A must-do if you haven't already done it!” From there the central plateau beckoned them and in such picturesque surroundings, they picnicked below the Chateau and the stunning peaks of Ruapehu, Ngaruahoe, and Tongariro. Rolling down into Turangi, they said Lake Taupo was as beautiful as ever, as were the Kaimanawa Ranges trailing away to the east. They then had a hot soak in the thermal pools at Tokaanu and a fine meal, then bunked down for their final night in the VW before heading home the next day. What a great country we live in!
